When little children draw it with coloured pencils in the kindergartens, they do it with no other concept but "simply beautiful and joyous". So, I think, it is up to a particular person's choice whether to label a rainbow as "gay" or not, thus, choosing either to demonstrate their narrow-mindness and judge-mental-ness, or not.
